Facilities Updates Organizational Reporting to Improve Efficiencies and Communication

In the last year, Administration & Finance has made several organizational changes to realign units and departments in accordance with a new strategic direction. The creation of Sustainability, Facilities and Safety (SFS) was one of the more significant reorganizations. As part of this restructuring, some short-term modifications have been made to help foster and strengthen effective communication, improve operational efficiencies and better align business process needed to achieve these goals.

The following is a list of short-term modifications to several working titles, reporting structures, and essential functions effective immediately.

· The position of associate vice president (AVP) of Operations & Maintenance will remain vacant until the permanent vice president of SFS is prepared to fill it. All Operations & Maintenance personnel who were previously reporting into the AVP position will now report directly into the interim vice president for SFS. The exception being the Recycling Office will report into Building Services, led by Tommy Little. All Area Maintenance Managers will report to David Tate.

· Ben Mason: Reassigned to interim director, Utilities Maintenance & Infrastructure. Mason will resume his prior essential engineering functions and manage the Utilities Maintenance & Infrastructure operation. Utilities Maintenance managers & Michael Leasure’s position will report directly to Mason. He will report directly to the interim vice president for SFS.

· Solid Waste Management and Recycling: This office will be reporting to Tommy Little, Associate Director of Building Services. Little will assume the essential functions of time and absence approval and annual appraisals for assigned staff.

· David Tate: Reassigned to interim associate director of Building Area Maintenance. Tate will assume the essential functions of that title to include time and absence approval and annual appraisals for all area managers who will report directly to Tate. He will report directly to the interim vice president for SFS.

· Jamie Ready: Remain in her current role as interim associate director of Building Engineering and Energy Strategy (BEES). Ready will remain responsible for time and absence approval and annual appraisals for the BEES team members. The BEES team engineers will continue to report directly to Ready. She will report directly to the interim vice president for SFS.

· Sam Evans III: Reassigned to interim associate director, Fleet Management & Landscape Services. Evans will assume full responsibility for Campus Fleet leadership. All Fleet staff will continue to report directly to Evans, and he will also manage the Landscape Services Department. He will report directly to the interim vice president for SFS.

· Jerel Harris: Reassigned to interim associate vice president of Environmental Health & Safety (EHS). Harris will manage all EHS operations and report directly to the interim vice president SFS.

· Osaséré E. Idahosa: Reassigned to Interim general safety manager for Environmental Health and Safety (EHS). Idahosa will assume the essential functions of that title. All General Safety staff will report to Idahosa. Idahosa will report directly to the interim associate vice president of EHS.

Additional organizational changes may be forthcoming once the permanent vice president for SFS is named. A national search for the vice president is currently under way.
