Georgia Tech earns ranking on Peace Corps 2011 top universities list

Georgia Tech is ranked on the 2011 Peace Corps top 25 list of medium-sized American universities producing Peace Corps volunteers. With 22 alumni currently serving as Peace Corps volunteers, Georgia Tech is No. 24 in the 2011 rankings.

The Institute is also ranked 10th in the Southeast Region among over 250 colleges and universities of all sizes located in Florida, Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi, South Carolina and Puerto Rico.  Since Peace Corps was founded in 1961, 240 Georgia Tech alumni have volunteered with the organization.

Approximately 8,600 volunteers are currently serving in 77 countries – a 40-year high, according to the Peace Corps. Celebrating its 50th anniversary, the Peace Corps was established in 1961 by President John F. Kennedy to promote world peace and friendship.
