Join Alternative Service Breaks (ASB) and Dr. Ruthie Yow, Service Learning and Partnerships Specialist for Serve-Learn-Sustain (SLS) for a workshop about developing meaningful and intentional community service experiences through asset-based community development (ABCD), a practice many service organizations utilize when partnering with organizations or communities for service experiences. 

ABCD focuses on sustainable and community-driven development, valuing the strengths, skills, and practices already present within the community.  Different from a deficit mindset, ABCD creates the opportunity for service partners and volunteers to provide collaborative support as identified by the community partner, which is more effective and sustainable than entering a community with solutions that may not be effective.
