Local Park Stewardship and Nature Walk at Local Park

Primary tabs

Lionel Hampton-Beecher Hills Nature Preserve is a beautiful local park just a few miles from campus and filled with remnants of old growth forest. We will be helping remove invasive species to preserve the health of the forest. Partnering with local nonprofit EcoAddendum, master naturalist Kathryn Kolb will teach us how to identify native species and the complex relationships between species.

Please transport yourself to the park if possible with your members of your own household (driving directions will be further provided). If you need a ride, masks will be worn at all times and we will drive with the windows down. During the workday, we will be able to space out over six feet no problem, and masks will be required at all times.

Bring water, sunscreen, and work gloves. If you need work gloves, they can be purchased for $5 in cash at the worksite.

We will leave campus at 9 a.m. and return between 12:30-1 p.m.
