"Knowing Pakistan"

Primary tabs

In an effort to increase our understanding and knowledge of nations around the world, the Pakistan Student Association and the Fulbright Student Association (FSA) are launching a series of sessions where scholars from different nationalities share their perspectives on general and specific topics of a given country or region.

The first session of this series is entitled "Knowing Pakistan". The session will give an overview of Pakistan as a country from a Pakistani and from an American perspective, to complement the image of Pakistan given to us by the popular media.

Naveed Ahmed, a Fulbright Scholar from Pakistan who is pursuing a masters degree in mechanical engineering at Georgia Tech, will give a brief introduction about the history of the country, its culture, natural beauty and perception of the world from a Pakistani perspective.

Caroline Ryan, an U.S. Fulbright Scholar, will then offer a brief introduction to the history of the country (from an American perspective) and the history of the presence of the Presbyterian Church and their schools in the Punjab province. She will focus in the importance of investment in the education of the children of Pakistan especially in the rural/village areas.

A question and answer session will follow
