Veterans Resource Center to Host Veterans Day Luncheon

Primary tabs

The Veterans Resource Center will honor our veterans by hosting a Veterans Day Luncheon on Monday, Nov. 11. All students who are veterans or currently active in the military, along with faculty and staff, are invited to attend. Special guests and other members of the Georgia Tech community will be present to honor those who have dedicated their service to our country. The event will take place at 11:30 a.m. in the Student Center Ballroom.

“We are honored to host the Veterans Day luncheon, which will be sponsored by Phillips 66, an energy manufacturing and logistics company,” said David Ross, director of the Veterans Resource Center. “This is a great opportunity for student veterans to meet each other, as well as other staff and faculty veterans at Georgia Tech.”

Over the years, the Veterans Resource Center has served as a support hub for all students who are veterans, military, reservist, guard members, and dependents. The Center provides services and resources that enhance their academic and social experience at Tech.

In addition to the luncheon, our students will participate in the annual Veterans Day Parade in the Centennial Park District in downtown Atlanta. All members of the Tech community who are veterans or current military are invited to join. Student veterans will also be honored during the Georgia Tech Heroes Day football game, as the Yellow Jackets take on Virginia Tech on Saturday, Nov. 16.

Additionally, construction of a new Veterans Resource Center, set to open in August 2020, is in the planning stage. The new facility will consist of multiple meeting spaces with 24-hour access for our students.

“I am thrilled about the upcoming construction of the new Center,” said Ross. “It will serve as a central community space for veterans and will provide an opportunity to expand support and programming for student veterans.”
