Announcement Regarding Deceased Male Found on Campus

At approximately 9:15 this morning, Georgia Tech Police were notified of the discovery of a body at 711 Marietta Street, the Central Receiving Building, on the perimeter of the campus. While an investigation is currently underway, police have confirmed the identity of the deceased as Jeffrey Lane Hopkins, 44. He is not a member of the Georgia Tech student body, its faculty or staff. The cause of death is unknown at this time, and there is no immediate threat to the campus.

The Georgia Tech Police Department, the Atlanta Police Department and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation are investigating the incident. Future updates will be posted at www.police.gatech.edu/crimeinfo/crimealerts.
