And Still I Rise: Exploring African-Heritage Stories of Resilience and Determination

Primary tabs

Performance Duo Emily Lansana and Zahra Baker of “In the Spirit” guide participants through discovering and celebrating the rich heritage of African-Heritage storytelling with focus on the resilience often needed to survive and thrive. The soulful slate of storytellers include legendary story elder, Akbar Imhotep, solo performance artist Caleb Brown, Atlanta Moth GrandSlam Champion, Cola Rum, and a host of other extraordinary storytellers. Musical interludes will abound, and light refreshments will be served.

Georgia Tech's Transformative Narratives initiative is designed to enhance self-awareness, increase cultural competence, and connect us through the sharing of diverse identities, experiences, and perspectives. Events are free and open to faculty, staff, students, and invited guests from the greater Atlanta community.
