Engaging students in active learning is an important goal for any instructor, but how does it really work? 

In this workshop, we will investigate the science of how we take in, store, and access information and troubleshoot what happens when students fail to learn. Come and find out how to foster active learning with teaching practices that support what we know about the neuroscience of learning.

Workshop Goals:

  • Explain the model of how memory works as applied to teaching choices and learning experiences.
  • Interpret and predict student outcomes through the lens of the memory model in order to anticipate what went wrong in the learning experience.
  • Select teaching practices that intentionally enhance the learning experience based on the memory model.
