Education Curriculum Alignment Intern
As Biological Sciences and Applied Physiology finalize their merger into one school, Dr. Emily Weigel, assessment chair, is seeking an education curriculum intern to work directly with her and faculty in the Biological Sciences department to 1) determine a curriculum map, 2) align existing course objectives with advancements in national curricula, and 3) select validated assessments to use in the future to check for growth/benchmarks within the department.
This is an excellent opportunity to learn about curriculum development if you are considering going into K-12 or higher education
Eligibility requirements:
- GPA 3.0 or higher
- junior or higher-level undergraduates or graduate students with at least one semester teaching experience
- Biology or other science discipline majors a plus.
Benefits:
- course credit for either BIOL4699 or BIOL4695 or registration of the internship through C2D2 if working at least 10 hours/week)
- opportunity to publish or present work at major conferences
Hours per week:
- 9-10hrs/week as it fits the student’s schedule
- The intern can expect the flexibility to work independently on their own schedule, but will need to log weekly progress online.
Work term
August 23 - December 2, 2019 with possibility of renewal in spring
