After Hours in Atlanta in Summer 2019

The choices are endless if you are looking for fun after hours in Atlanta. Options vary depending on the age group of guests, but there is something for any age staying with us at Georgia Tech.

At Georgia Tech
On campus, you can rent space at Tech Rec, or catch a movie outside. This summer, Georgia Tech will be showing three movies:

Movies at The Fox Theatre
Starting in July, The Fox Theatre will be showing several classics in the 2019 Coca-Cola Summer Film Festival, including:

The Little Mermaid (Sing-Along) - July 14, 2pm
To Kill A Mockingbird - July 14, 6pm
Mary Poppins (Sing-Along) - July 21, 2pm
Saturday Morning Cartoons - July 27, 10am
The Princess Bride - July 27, 7:30pm
The Wizard of Oz - August 25, 2pm

Movies at Atlantic Station
Through the end of June, Atlantic Station will be showing movies on the lawn every Thursday at dusk. Atlantic Station is located just a mile north of the Georgia Tech campus. Go shop, eat and drink before the show! The Summer 2019 schedule includes:

May 30: Moana (2009)
June 6: Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986)
June 13: Shrek (2001)
June 20: The Karate Kid (1984)
June 27: Beauty and the Beast (1991)

Tourist Attractions
Atlanta History Center - located in nearby Buckhead, explore the history of Atlanta from its birth just before the Civil War to its emergence as the Capital of the South. Tours include the Swan House (which was featured in The Hunger Games movies), The Cyclorama, and The Texas Locomotive.
Georgia Aquarium
Atlanta Zoo
National Center for Civil and Human Rights - a unique downtown Atlanta cultural center that bridges the history of the American Civil Rights Movement to modern Global Human Rights issues. The center is interactive, informative and includes touching stories of those involved in the movements.
World of Coke Museum - Since Coca Cola was first served on May 8, 1886, the name has become synonymous with the city of Atlanta and the state of Georgia. The museum follows the journey of Coca Cola from its inception to its place as one of the world's most recognized brands. Don't miss out on the Tasting Room where you can try 100+ varieties of Coca Cola!

Explore The BeltLine - The BeltLine is a sustainable redevelopment project that is transforming Atlanta. It will ultimately connect 45 intown neighborhoods with a 22-mile loop of multi-use trails and parks, and eventually, light rail. The BeltLine is surrounded by restaurants, outdoor art, shops and entertainment options.
The Carter Center & Jimmy Carter Presidential Library & Museum - Learn about our 39th President and native son, Jimmy Carter, and his contributions to our country and the world.
The King Center - If Atlanta is considered the cradle of the Civil Rights movement, then Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. should be considered the father of the Civil Rights movement. Be sure to check out Dr. King's birthplace as well.
Ponce City Market - food hall, retail and outdoor space along The BeltLine and Ponce de Leon Ave.

Atlantic Station - movie theater, food and retail on the north end of Midtown
Piedmont Park/Atlanta Botanical Gardens - Piedmont Park, the jewel of Midtown, was designed by the sons of Frederick Law Olmstead, who designed NYC's Central Park. It has functioned as a city park since 1912.
Centennial Olympic Park - Opened in 1996 for the Olympics, the 22-acre greenspace in Downtown has since hosted outdoor festivals, concerts and was part of the Super Bowl LIII festivities in 2019.

Kennesaw Mountain - Explore one of the five trails which range from 1.35 to 11 miles.
