Celebrate the Start of Summer at Employee Well-being Week

Celebrate the start of the summer semester and connect with your co-workers during employee well-being week. The employee well-being week is focused on “cultivating a work culture at Georgia Tech that supports the whole person so that employees are engaged, satisfied and able to thrive. During the school year, it can be easy to forgo taking care of ourselves. We want to kick-off summer by providing events that remind us to do just that,” said Stacy Connell, senior director of Health Initiatives (HI). This week takes place from Monday, May 13th – Friday, May 17th at various locations across campus. Check out the full list of events for the week:

Monday, May 13th 11 am – 12 pm Student Center room 320: Self Care Workshop 

Join Director of Health Behavior, Dr.Tiffiny Hughes-Troutman for a self- care workshop. Self-care is the practice of taking steps to care for ourselves on many dimensions of well-being. This workshop will guide employees through an assessment of their self-care practices and learn new strategies and tools to thrive and reach your self-care goals.

Tuesday, May 14th 11 am – 2 pm Student Center Ballroom: Employee Health Expo

Come visit the health expo to learn more about on-campus and external partners that support employee health and well-being. Employees have the chance to win hourly door prizes! In addition, Certified Healthy winners will be announced at this event, therefore you don’t want to miss out on the fun!

Wednesday, May 15 11 am – 12 pm Student Center Peachtree Room: Be-Well Deskercises: Exercises You Can Do at Work

Are you chained to your desk with no time to exercise? Did you know that prolonged sitting every day can sabotage your health? Learn some simple tips on how to incorporate exercises into your workday while at your desk!

Thursday, May 16 4:30 pm Campus Recreation (CRC): President's Walk

Join President Peterson for his last walk around campus as President! The President’s Walk is a time-honored tradition where President “Bud” Peterson guides students and employees through campus along the Tyler Brown Pi Mile. Pre-registration check-in for the event and day of registration opens at 3:45 pm and you must have your BuzzCard to check in. The walk begins with opening ceremonies by President Peterson at 4:30 pm. The first 50 people to check in and complete at least one loop of the course will receive one of the final President’s Walk t-shirts. To register for the event go to crc.gatech.edu/presidents-walk.

Friday, May 17th: Free Day at the CRC

Meet your co-workers at the CRC for free access to the facility and its amenities, including free group fitness classes all day long. Non-members must bring their BuzzCard to the member services desk to receive your free day pass.

“Employee Wellbeing week is an opportunity for employees to learn, connect with their peers, and apply strategies to adopt and maintain optimal health and well-being throughout the year,” said Joi Alexander HI director of health promotion.
