Beyond Coal: The Grassroots Campaign That's Moving the US to 100% Clean Energy

Primary tabs

For a century, coal plants have been the largest source of climate, air, and water pollution in the US. Working with partners across the nation to stop that pollution, the Sierra Club's Beyond Coal Campaign has blocked the construction of 200 proposed US coal plants, secured retirement of over half of existing US coal plants, and helped usher in the clean energy era.

Beyond Coal is the largest campaign in the 125-year history of the Sierra Club and has been recognized as one of the nation's most successful environmental campaigns. Mary Anne Hitt, the campaign's senior director, will share the campaign's history, strategy, and plans to move the US power grid to 100% clean energy by 2030.

This event is hosted by the Georgia Tech's Global Change Program and Serve-Learn-Sustain.
