ATLANTA– The Atlanta Global Studies Center (AGSC), a partnership of Georgia State University and the Georgia Institute of Technology, is hosting the first annual Atlanta Global Studies Symposium, April 25-27 on the campus of Georgia Tech.

The theme of the symposium is “The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals in Education, Research, and Community Engagement.”

Speakers will include Georgia State University Provost Risa Palm and G.P. Peterson, President of Georgia Institute of Technology, as well as panelists and presenters from Georgia State, Georgia Tech, The University of Denver, The University of North Georgia and the University of Georgia. Events will include sessions on immigration, diversity, and inequality in the United States, a film screening of a movie about immigration issues in France, a lecture on pedagogy in global justice education, and a discussion on building successful global and international studies programs.

Established in 2018, the Atlanta Global Studies Center’s mission is to enhance access to advanced language learning and to help deepen knowledge of global and intercultural issues for students, faculty and the public. The AGSC engages students throughout Atlanta — including science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) students; community college students; and first-generation and low-income students — with a goal to serve areas of national need in educating students for careers in business, education, security and defense, and public and governmental sectors.

All symposium events are free and open to the public, with pre-registration, and will take place at the Bill Moore Student Success Center, 225 N Ave NW, Atlanta, GA 30332. Pay Parking is available in the Burge Visitor's Parking Lot on North Avenue.
