ML Students and Professors Participate in The Russian School's Maslenitsa Celebration

The Maslenitsa Celebration* took place last Sunday, March 3. at the Russian School #1** (Dunwoody) with the participation of Russian local community, Georgia Tech students (Brett Winters, Anri Sorel, Alyssa Rentz), and professors (Daniel Brand, Yevgenya Starkovsky, Tatiana Kozhanova, Matthew Mangold). 

*Maslenitsa (Russian: Мaсленица, Ukrainian: Масниця, Belarusian: Масленіца; also known as Butter Week, Crepe week, or Cheesefare Week) is an Eastern Slavic religious and folk holiday, celebrated during the last week before Great Lent, that is, the eighth week before Eastern Orthodox Pascha (Easter).

**Russian School #1 in Atlanta is a non-profit organization established by Russian-American Federation (www.rafusa.org) in 2004. Located in the Atlanta metropolitan area, the school is a unique educational center for the development of Russian language and culture; it serves a larger Russian community teaching more than 120 students per year.
