Grad Student Appreciation Week

Primary tabs

Mark your calendars for this week of events that will celebrate graduate students (both on-campus and online) at Georgia Tech! This initiative is sponsored by the Graduate Resource and Information Network (GRIN) at Tech, including the Student Center, Student Alumni Association, and Graduate Student Government Association.

It is also aligned with the National Association of Graduate-Professional Students' Graduate-Professional Student Appreciation Week.

Here's a listing of some of the events that will be held throughout the week (the full list can be found at http://grad.gatech.edu/gsaw):

  • #BrunchIsBetter – Monday, April 1, 10 a.m.-noon (or as long as supplies last)
To kick off the week, we’re hosting a grad student appreciation brunch in the Suddath Room, Petit Institute. Enjoy food from Sun In My Belly, and get your picture taken in front of the Reck. Register here.
  • OIE Appreciates Grad Students — All Week Long (while supplies last)
The Office of International Education (OIE) will be passing out treats with messages to grad students showing their appreciation and support! Get your treat in OIE’s lobby area on the second floor of the Savant Building.
  • Get Ready for the Real World: Graduate Alumni Panel – Monday, April 1, 6:30-8:30 p.m.
The Student Alumni Association is putting on a panel of graduate alumni from Georgia Tech for them to talk about their experience with grad work at GT and how that has impacted their life after Tech. The event will be held in Press Room A, Student Success Center. Register here.
  • Treats for Grads – Tuesday to Friday
Throughout the week, various offices will be sponsoring snacks and refreshments dropped off at the Graduate Student Community Space on the 6th floor of Crosland Tower. If you’re a graduate student, you can access the quiet study space, and grab some treats just for you.
  • Spring Graduate Student Picnic – Wednesday April 3, 5-7 p.m.
The Graduate Student Government Association is hosting a spring picnic for graduate students on Tech Green. If you’ve ever attended their fall picnic, you know you won’t want to miss this.
  • Let's Talk for Graduate Students - Thursday, April 4, 9:30-11:30 a.m.
As part of Graduate Student Appreciation Week and as a show of our care and support for Georgia Tech Graduate Students, the Counseling Center will be holding a special “Let’s Talk” event for graduate students in Room 1202 (Conference Room), Klaus Advanced Computing Building. Students may drop by for a brief, informal consultation with a clinician. “Let’s Talk’ is not formal treatment or therapy, but is an opportunity for graduate students to speak about a specific problem they are having and to introduce them to what it is like to talk to a counselor. There is no fee or appointment necessary.
  • Sting Break Grad Student and Family Area – Thursday, April 4, 6-10 p.m.
Sting Break is one of the largest events each year and the Student Center is hosting a grad student and family area in Tech Rec during the event. This family friendly area will be open just for grad students and their guests.
  • Thank You Shout-Outs on Facebook – Friday, April 5
All day, we’ll be recapping the week on Facebook by sharing posts, pictures, and information form the week. Make sure you tag “Georgia Tech Graduate Studies” and use the #gladforgrads hashtag to have your posts included.
