Woodrow Wilson Academy of Teaching and Learning final application deadline

Primary tabs

Remaining deadlines: January 31

The Woodrow Wilson Academy of Teaching and Learning, in collaboration with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), is reinventing teacher education for the 21st century. The Academy offers a competency-based master’s degree in education leading towards an initial teacher license at the secondary level (middle and high school) in the following areas:

  • biology (through the Amgen Biology Program)
  • chemistry
  • mathematics

Teacher candidates progress through a problem-based, individualized, adaptive curriculum by mastery of core competencies. Teacher candidates become eligible for graduation and initial licensure when they demonstrate proficiency in all of the competencies through completion of the challenges, fulfilled requisite clinical experiences, and satisfied Commonwealth of Massachusetts’ initial licensure requirements, including passing the Massachusetts Tests for Educator Licensure (MTEL).

Students will experience the challenge-based curriculum in a blended environment including online, face-to-face, and clinical education.  The Academy offers clinical experiences in local public schools, as well as mentoring and professional development opportunities for its graduates. The WW Academy has established relationships with the school districts of Burlington, Cambridge, Natick, Revere, and Somerville.
