Three APA Division Paper Awards to Tech MCRP Students

Last spring, the American Planning Association Housing and Community Development Division gave two of four awards to MCRP students, Kia Ball and Kyungsoon Wang, for their papers, "A Needs Assessment of Permanent Supportive Housing in Atlanta," and " The Impacts of Smart Growth Strategies on Housing Prices, Focusing on Transportation Improvement Porgrams," respectively.  Each student received a grant from the division of $1000 to apply toward their research for a graduate thesis or student project. Descriptions of their papers can be found in the summer 2010 issue of the Housing and Community Development Quarterly, which includes a written piece from the vice-chair of the publication and graduate of the School of City and Regional Planning, Ryan Sherriff.

Evan Robertson (MCRP 2011), also received honorable mention and $500 in scholarship from the Economic Development Division paper competition. His paper, "Hacker Spaces: User-Led Innovation and Economic Development," was an exploration on new potential scources of innovation and was published in the summer 2010 Economic Development Division's newsletter.
