Remembering Scout Schultz

Primary tabs

On Friday, 14th September, the LGBTQIA Resource Center and Pride Alliance will co-host a memorial to honor Scout's legacy and memory. Anyone is welcome to attend. It will take place at 12pm in room 117 of Smithgall Student Services.

During and after the memorial, therapists from the Counseling Center will be available to meet with anyone who needs support. Kathryn Folk, our Episcopal Campus Missioner, will also be available to provide support to anyone, regardless of faith. You can find them in the LGBTQIA Resource Center.

During the morning of the 14th, we will be offering pet therapy in the LGBTQIA Resource Center from 10:30am-12:00pm. Please stop by to spend some time with our guest therapy dogs.

I'd also like to remind you all that the Center has a space for quiet reflection, meditation, and healing. Visitors may use The Oasis for up to 20 minutes at a time. There are comfortable chairs, relaxing music, and tools and books for stress reduction, mindfulness, yoga, and relaxation. Please stop by should you need some peace and quiet at any time. We will soon be announcing scheduled office hours in the space where students can meet with counselors, campus chaplains, VOICE Advocates, and other helping professionals in an LGBTQIA-friendly environment. Please look for that in our newsletter next week.

As we move through healing collectively and as individuals, know that we in the Center are here to support you in whatever ways we can. Please let us know if we can connect you to services on or off campus, and do make use of our space for being in community with one another.

Warmest regards,

Aby Parsons, Ph.D.
