Dr. Boulard Lectures on "L’invention de Vincennes"

Dr. Stephanie Boulard, Associate Professor of French in the School of Modern Languages, was invited to speak on “L’invention de Vincennes” at 20th and 21st-century French and Francophone Studies Colloquium at Brown University on April 14th. Dr. Boulard discussed the outcome of May '68 events in France, and about the experimental University of Vincennes, which is today the one institution that is considered the radical embodiment of the 1968 revolt. The focus of the discussion was Hélène Cixous, who founded the first center of Women's studies at the Centre Universitaire de Vincennes in 1974 (today's University of Paris VIII) and the role Hélène Cixous played in creating the University of Vincennes and its spirit. The event was attended by more than 150 scholars from around the world and was broadcast on web radio.
