WCP Faculty Research in Food Studies and Poetry

Primary tabs

Dr. Darcy Mullen (Marion L. Brittain Postdoctoral Fellow) is pleased to announce that she’s working on a book titled The Food and Drink of Atlanta. This will be one of the new editions in Rowman and Littlefield’s, “Food City Biography Series” (forthcoming, Spring 2019). She is exploring opportunities stemming from this monograph (like working with Atlanta Studies Magazine, and the Mayor’s office of Resiliency). This Fall, Dr. Mullen has also been contracted by Bloomsbury to write for their Food Library (an online resource for teaching in higher-ed) as the content creator for Food and Literature. The ideas that inform these projects led to a course development grant through Serve, Learn, Sustain (as a Level 1 affiliate), for a spring course on food literacy in Atlanta.

Her fall class, English 1102: Rhetoric and Poetics of The Nobel Prize in Literature, partnered with the I-House for an international film screening series, and was awared a poetry@tech teaching grant.
