Health Initiatives FREE HIV Testing Event

Primary tabs

Health Initiatives will offer free HIV testing as part of Health Initiative’s G.Y.P. (Get Yourself Protected) campaign. Free testing will be provided by the AIDS Healthcare Foundation to all Georgia Tech students, faculty, and staff at no charge on Tuesday, November 21 from 10am-2pm in the Student Center Piedmont Room.Testing will be performed using the INSTI® test which gives results in 60 seconds. Health Educators will be available to discuss healthy relationships and healthy sexual decision making, as well as to provide safer sex supplies.

The goal of G.Y.P. is to empower Georgia Tech students to make healthy decisions regarding protection if they choose to be sexually active. Many sexually transmitted infections (STIs), including HIV, can be asymptomatic (which means a person could have an STI and not know it). One in seven of those people living with HIV in the United States are unaware of their infection (CDC, 2017). The only way to be sure someone doesn’t have HIV is to be tested.

HIV testing is available to eligible students at Stamps Health Services at a low cost on an ongoing basis. Health Initiatives is proud to partner with the AIDS Healthcare Foundation to provide this service to the Georgia Tech community.
