In Memoriam: Shuyi Li

The Office of International Education is saddened to have learned recently about the premature death of a member of the Georgia Tech international student community. Shuyi Li graduated from Georgia Tech in 2016 with her MS in Building Construction and remained in Georgia to work on her OPT. Shuyi’s sudden and tragic death is devastating for her family and friends, and a shock to all of the GT community.

 

Georgia Tech is committed to supporting students and to providing resources to aid in emotional, mental, and physical well-being.  We are aware of how Shuyi’s death may impact our community. Please remember that Georgia Tech offers multiple services and resources for currently enrolled students, in support of the community during this time of loss and grief:

  • The GT Counseling Center is located on the 2nd floor of the Student Service (Flag) Building. They are open 8am-5pm, M-F and accept walk-ins. The after-hours number for the counseling center is: 404-894-2575
  • The Office of the Dean of Students has also online form for students who need support or assistance.
  • The Georgia Crisis & Access Line (1-800-715-4225) is staffed with professional social workers and counselors 24 hours a day, every day, to assist those with urgent and emergency needs.
