Hands-On Quantitative Biosciences Modeling Workshop: Stochastic Gene Expression

Do you want to integrate computational models of living systems into your research or courses, but have limited (or no) prior modeling experience? Joshua Weitz, director of the Interdisciplinary Ph.D. Program in Quantitative Biosciences (QBios) and a professor in the School of Chemistry and Biochemistry, and first-year QBios Ph.D. students invite you to a two-day, hands-on workshop intended for Ph.D. students and instructional faculty in the life sciences. Joshua Weitz will teach this two-day hands-on modeling workshop on the theme of "Stochastic Gene Expression." He will be joined by the inaugural cohort of QBioS.  The two-day workshop will cover the following:
  • Introduction to gene expression theory
  • Introduction to basic programming concepts in MATLAB and Python.
  • Modeling stochastic gene expression.
  • Modeling randomness across biological scales
  • Consultation on individual project
