The Center for Advanced Communications Policy and the School of Public Policy are hosting an ICT Roundtable event on the subject of "Outsourcing Local Government Services: Does It Work?"

Speaker: Dr. James White, Center for Advanced Communications Policy

Background: Following its establishment at the end of 2005, the city of Sandy Springs, Georgia, has quickly come to typify the concept of comprehensive municipal service outsourcing. In an attempt to measure both the economic and social efficacy of the concept, an original comparison between five “contract” cities and five “traditional” municipalities was completed in May, 2009, offering a view of the relative merits and demerits of outsourcing. This talk will outline the major findings of the research.
