Introduction to NVivo: The basics of wrangling your content

NVivo is a data analysis tool designed for researchers working with text based or multimedia information. NVivo allows you to collect, organize, and analyze the various connections between documents, pictures, audio and video, web pages, and social media data. The introductory workshop will be an overview on the basics of using and understanding NVivo for your future research.

The introductory course will cover the following topics:

  • General overview of coding and content analysis.
  • Introduction to the Nvivo interface.
  • Exploration of source analysis.
  • Tools for coding content.
  • Text searching and queries for content analysis.

Prerequisites: To access the Nvivo software the students will need to have access to the Ivan Allen Virtual desktop.
