Handel "Israel in Egypt"

Primary tabs

On Sunday, March 5, at 3:00 PM, the Georgia Tech Chamber Choir will present Handel’s monumental oratorio Israel in Egypt, in the sanctuary of Druid Hills Presbyterian Church. The work tells the Biblical story of the Israelites’ escape from bondage using dramatic choruses and solos depicting plagues of locusts, lice, flies, frogs, hail, and darkness. The work will feature multiple soloists and be accompanied by a professional orchestra. The performance will include all three parts of Handel’s original composition. The work, which was first premiered in London in 1739, marks Handel’s stylistic shift from Italian opera to English oratorio.

Admission is $10 for adults, and students are free with a valid ID.  Tickets are available at the door, or by emailing chamberchoirofficers@lists.gatech.edu.
