Financial Aid Fair

Primary tabs

Several things have changed for 2017, including the Free Application for Student Aid (FAFSA). Tech staff will be on hand at the fair on Nov. 3 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Bill Moore Student Success Center to talk with students about what they need to know for this year.

“Our goal is to bring awareness to students about the earlier, easier 2017-18 FAFSA application, as well as to help students understand the annual financial aid requirements needed for maximum aid consideration,” said LeAndra Ross, associate director of Outreach and Advisement for the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid.

In addition to helping students navigate the application process, the fair will bring awareness to other programs and areas in which the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid assists students. These topics include how to pay for study abroad, maintaining eligibility for the HOPE and Zell Miller scholarships, applying for additional scholarships and funds, and managing loan repayments.

Students’ Temporary Assistance and Resources, a Georgia Tech student organization, will participate in the fair to bring awareness to on-campus initiatives designed to provide students in need with food, financial assistance, clothing, and housing stability so that they’re able to get the most from their college experience.

Who should attend?

Any students receiving financial aid or interested in receiving financial aid are encouraged to attend the fair to ensure that they are “financial-aid ready” for Summer 2017 or the 2017-18 academic year. The financial aid deadline is earlier this year, and students must prepare in advance.

Why attend?

First-year and returning students are encouraged to attend the fair because FAFSA changes will affect all Tech students during the 2017-18 academic year. While the fair is more undergraduate-focused, staff will be open and eager to assist all Georgia Tech students. Several of the topics covered will be relevant to both undergraduate and graduate students.

The fair was specifically designed for students to get information in a fun, casual way. Staff from the Office of Scholarships and Financial aid will be available at booths and stations for students to receive assistance and information. Attendees will also be able to participate in raffles and score free treats and Georgia Tech swag.

If you are unable to attend the Financial Aid Fair, check out the website for the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid or visit their office Monday – Friday, 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., on the 1st floor of the Bill Moore Student Success Center.
