Trans Day of Remembrance

Primary tabs

Trans Day of Remembrance commemorates and honors transgender people who have lost their lives to violence throughout the past year. So far in 2016, 23 transgender people have been murdered in the U.S. - that we know of - and the majority of these are trans women of color.

This year, the LGBTQIA Resource Center will be hosting a special walk-through space for all members of the Georgia Tech community. Drop by room 320 in the Student Center any time between 11am and 1pm on Friday, 18th November to:

  1.  Sit in quiet reflection in our vigil space where you can learn about and honor the trans folks who have been taken from us this year
  2. Move through our Information Station where you can learn facts and stats about trans communities in the U.S. and information about the climate for trans students and employees at Tech
  3. Visit our Action Station to learn practical tips for creating a more trans-inclusive environment in your classroom, residence hall, workplace, or student organization

We'll have free refreshments for you to enjoy while you spend time in our Reflect, Learn, Act space, and plenty of resource guides and handouts for you to take away.
