Bio
Cathy Carpenter, M.L.S., serves as the head of the Georgia Tech Architecture Library. As head librarian she is responsible for operations and management which includes planning, implementation, and assessment of all activities including user services, supervising of library staff, and policy making. She provides research instruction to students and develops web content and resource guides. She develops the library’s collection in all formats in consultation with faculty to support teaching and research in the College. She received a B.A. from Knox College where she studied art history, anthropology, and sociology. As an undergraduate she studied Renaissance art while living in Florence, Italy. She received a Master of Library and Information Science (M.L.S.) from Clark Atlanta. Carpenter is a member of Architecture School Librarians (AASL) and Art Libraries Society of North America (ARLIS). She has presented at numerous professional conferences and has published articles and book reviews in library journals. She has published essays in several books on the topics of library marketing and management. Her most recent essay is in the Handbook of Art & Design Librarianship (Neal-Schuman Publishers).
