European Commission Economist and Attorney Joins School of Public Policy

Dr. Garry A. Gabison joins Georgia Tech as a Visiting Assistant Professor in the School of Public Policy, after working for three years for the European Commission. At the Commission, Dr. Gabison used his expertise as an economist and a lawyer to tackle issues related to the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) sector. He worked for the Directorate General Joint Research Centre (DG JRC) providing evidence-based policy support to Directorate General for Communications Networks, Content & Technology on questions related to the harmonization of ICT startup financing and patent policy.

Prior to his arrival at the JRC, Dr. Gabison worked for DG Trade at the European Union Delegation to the United States as the EU and US embarked on the transatlantic trade negotiations. He also worked for the American Antitrust Institute, a non-profit think tank promoting competition.

Dr. Gabison earned his B.A. and J.D. from the University of Virginia and his M.A., M.Phil. and Ph.D. from Yale University. He is licensed to practice law in Virginia and the District of Columbia. He has published in academic journals in Europe and in the United States.
