Parametric Design In-Class Competition
Populate flat panels on a given complexly curved surface.
1- You can rebuild, rationalize, and approximate the given base surface as
long as you maintain its general shape.
2- The panel(s) can be singular, or composed of sub panels. In all cases,
they must be flat.
3- You get extra credit for making your panels of fixed size.
Best design will be awarded a personal one-year academic license of digital
project software. The winning design will be selected by jury.
In this class, we tried to explore 5 areas:
1- Limitations and potentials ofdifferent parameterization schemes in 2d and 3d.
2- Wire, surface and solid modeling operations in digital project including architecture and structure elements.
3- Assembly design (of products and parts), and team collaboration.
4- Aggregation of adaptive smart geometric components (power-copy objects).
5- Rationalization of geometry.
