Dr. Ioannis Brilakis joined Georgia Tech in 2009 as an Assistant Professor jointly appointed the Schools of Building Construction and Civil and Environmental Engineering. He is director of the Construction Information Technology Laboratory. His teaching and research focus on construction information technology, construction engineering, and computer vision applications in infrastructure modeling and assessment. Since 2005, Dr. Brilakis has been the Principal Investigator or Co-Principal Investigator on more than 10 externally sponsored grants, most from the National Science Foundation. He is the recipient of a 2010 NSF CAREER award, an active member of several academic and professional organizations, and a member of the Editorial Boards of the ASCE Journal of Construction Engineering and Management, the ASCE Journal of Computing in Civil Engineering, and the Elsevier Journal of Advanced Engineering Informatics. Dr. Brilakis is the author or co-author of more than 20 articles in peer-reviewed journals and 35 articles in peer reviewed conference proceedings.
He holds a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the University of Illinois, Urbana Champaign. From 2005 to 2008, Dr. Brilakis served as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
