Bio
Tristan Al-Haddad is an assistant professor in the School of Architecture at the Georgia Institute of Technology and founder of Formations Studio. Tristan holds a Master of Architecture degree from Georgia Tech and also studied at the University of Paris - La Villette and at the Daniels Center for Building Technology and Urban Design in Genoa, Italy. As an assistant professor at Georgia Tech Al-Haddad has helped to lead the College's efforts in appropriating and utilizing digital technologies for architectural design and construction purposes. His research focuses on full-scale prototyping as a mode of testing architectural ideas on aesthetics, materiality, performance, efficiency and process. Additional research areas include architecturally integrated photovoltaic systems.
Tristan founded Formations Studio in 2004 as a vehicle for sustained research and creative practice in Atlanta, Georgia. Tristan received a Fulbright Fellowship in 2009 as a visiting scholar at the Universidad Tecnica Federico Santa Maria in Valparaiso, Chile. His work has been exhibited in venues including The Centre Pompidou in Paris, The High Museum of Art in Atlanta, The Boston Center for the Arts, The International Contemporary Furniture Fair, Solomon Projects Gallery, The Museum of Design Atlanta, and The AIA’s Center for Architecture in New York.
