Georgia Tech President G.P. "Bud" Peterson Meets with Members of Congress, Agency Leaders

On March 23-24, Georgia Tech President Bud Peterson was in Washington, DC, where he met with Members of Congress, leaders at federal agencies, and participated in the Board of Directors meeting of the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities. 

On this trip, President Peterson met with three Members of the Georgia delegation to Congress: Congressman Sanford Bishop (representing GA’s 2nd district which includes Albany, Columbus and Thomasville), Congressman Hank Johnson (representing GA’s 4th district which includes Lithonia and Tucker), and Congressman David Scott (representing GA’s 13th district which includes Jonesboro and Smyrna). 

At federal agencies, he met with Department of Energy Under Secretary Steven Koonin, with whom he discussed Georgia Tech's research activities and industry partnerships in a variety of energy areas.  He also met with Esther Lee, the Director of the new Office of Innovation and Entrepreneurship within the Office of Secretary at the U.S. Department of Commerce, to discuss Georgia Tech's role as an economic driver for the state of Georgia and the Southeastern U.S. and the Institute's experience and expertise in innovation and technology transfer.
