Two CGIS Researchers Attend Workshop in Singapore
Primary tabs
Two CGIS researchers, Matt Swarts and Noah Posner, recently attended the “Place Sensing Wearables Workshop” at the National University of Singapore. The two researchers from Georgia Tech’s Center for Geographic Information Systems joined attendees from Taiwan and Singapore.
Wearables are wearable technology, such as those that are already in use. You find them in bracelets, watches, and glasses to monitor everything from steps taken to sleep. This workshop looked as the use of wearable technology for use “to measure the qualities of urban places we journey through every day.”
One goal of the workshop was to “design and prototype functional devices to sense attributes of the environment that help form a sense of place. These prototypes will also be equipped with GPS and time data collection and storing capabilities.”
