Graduate Research Assistant Alan Wagner and Regents' Professor
Ronald Arkin won the best technical paper award for "A Framework for
Situation-Based Social Interaction" at the 15th Institute of Electrical
and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) International Symposium on Robot and
Human Interactive Communication (RO-MAN 06). The award was presented at
this year's conference held in Korea from August 26 to 29.

The paper presents a theoretical framework, which offers a
principled, general approach for studying interactive robotics problems.

IEEE RO-MAN07 was sponsored by IEEE Industrial Electronics society
(IES), IEEE Systems, Man and Cybernetics Society (SMC), IEEE Robotics
and Automation Society (RAS), Robotics Society of Japan (RSJ), and
Korea Robotics Society (KRS).
