CoC Alumnus Receives $50,000 for Alzheimer’s Research

Anind Dey (Ph.D. in Computer Science, 2000) has been awarded a
research grant from Microsoft’s Intelligent Systems for Assisted
Cognition RFP for his work on creating a system to help patients with
Alzheimer’s recall episodic memories more effectively. Dey, now an
Assistant Professor in the Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) Institute
at Carnegie Mellon University, is developing and evaluating a memory
prosthesis that uses contextual cues and automated techniques for
determining what cues will help with memory recollection.
