Task Force Enters Final Phase of Completing Focus Groups on the Black Student Experience

Primary tabs

Co-led by Institute Diversity and the Division of Student Life, the Black Student Experience Task Force has entered its final phase in completing focus groups with Georgia Tech students, faculty, and staff. Additionally, the Task Force has identified a timeline for bringing the focus group process to a closure and receiving a high-level summary of the focus group and interview findings.

The goal of the focus groups and interviews is to hear and learn about the black student experiences at Georgia Tech and identify themes that emerge from the narratives of the focus groups.

The Black Student Experience Task Force is expected to receive a report summarizing this qualitative research, which will inform its decisions in presenting actionable steps and recommendations to President G. P. “Bud” Peterson as soon as feasible this semester.

“Fundamentally, these focus groups and interviews are critical in helping us learn and understand the black student experience at Georgia Tech and ensure a supportive, safe, and inclusive campus climate,” said Archie Ervin, vice president of Institute Diversity.
