New Members Elected to Staff Council

The Georgia Tech Staff Council held its second annual election last November with staff members electing six new members who will serve three-year terms.
Administrative and Professional
- Tina Clonts, Institute Finance Partner, Institute Budget Planning and Administration
- Cheryl Lafoy, Director, Athletic Event Operations, Georgia Tech Athletics
- Cara-Joy Wong, Program Support Coordinator, Office of the Provost
Information Technology
- Anthony Bridges, IT Support Professional Manager, Georgia Tech Athletics
Skilled Trades
- David Brown, Electrician III, Facilities
- Marquis Stephens, Facilities Manager Senior, Facilities
The new members attended their first Staff Council meeting in December and met with the six members rotating off the Council. Those members leaving the council are:
Administrative and Professional
- Andrea Be, Office of Industry Research
- Gerri Naramore, Office of the Provost and Executive VP for Research
- Christie Stewart, Campus Recreation Center
Information Technology
- Dwayne Palmer, Office of Information Technology
Skilled Trades
- Tommy Little, Facilities Management
- Garry Lockerman, Facilities Management
“I am so thankful to have worked alongside this talented and passionate group of council members during the past year,” said Rick Clark, chair, 2015 Staff Council. “Their insight, diligence, and desire to see Georgia Tech improve have been invaluable to establishing Georgia Tech’s first Staff Council. It is clear that their foundational efforts will support and bolster the staff experience of many in the years to come.”
Staff Council officers for 2016 were also elected at the December meeting.

In 2016, the Staff Council plans to implement the following initiatives:
- Two town hall meetings to be held in spring and fall semesters, giving Georgia Tech staff the opportunity to meet and discuss issues with the Staff Council.
- Quarterly education sessions to help raise awareness among the Georgia Tech staff on such issues as the legislative session update, Georgia Tech's budget and the Georgia Tech campus – where we’ve come, where we are and where we’re going.
- Staff Council daily office hours to enable Georgia Tech staff to talk with Council members on a one-on-one basis.
- Communications to the Georgia Tech staff to highlight the Staff Council’s accomplishments.
