Yellow Jackets Boast Varied Bowl Game History

Primary tabs

As Georgia Tech's football players and coaches prepare for their FedEx Orange Bowl appearance on January 5, 2010, the Yellow Jackets can draw on a rich and varied history of bowl game appearances. No. 9 Tech (11-2) will face No. 10 Iowa (10-2) at Land Shark Stadium in Miami. The game will be televised at 8 p.m. on the FOX Network and on ESPN Radio.

Counted as one of the four current Bowl Championship Series bowls, along with the Sugar, Rose and Fiesta bowls, Tech's previous visit to Miami in January 1967 resulted in a 27-12 loss to the University of Florida. This game marked legendary coach Bobby Dodd's last appearance at the helm of the Yellow Jackets. Tech played in the Orange Bowl on four other occasions: 1940, '45, '48 and '52. The Yellow Jackets are 3-2 in Orange Bowl appearances.
