All U.S. Embassies & Consulates Able to Issue Visas

Primary tabs

It was announced before the weekend that all U.S. embassy and consulate posts are back online and are working quickly to schedule visa interviews for nonimmigrant visas. The Department of State is working as quickly as possible to get through the backlog of cases caused by the hardware glitch. Consular staff worked over the weekend and hope that the backlog will be gone by early this week.

If you had been advised to wait to schedule an appointment, please check travel.state.gov for the latest information on appointment wait times at specific posts. You can find the latest update from the Department of State here.

We hope that our students and scholars will not be affected by this slowdown. However, if you will not arrive in Atlanta by your intended arrival date, please take the following steps:

  • New students beginning fall 2015: Graduate students should work with their graduate coordinator, who will notifiy OIE. Undergraduate students should email info@oie.gatech.edu.
  • Returning students: Please email info@oie.gatech.edu if you will not be able to return for fall 2015 semester.
  • Scholars and student interns: Please work with your department's human resources administrator, who will notify OIE that your visa issuance is delayed.
