Mike Grant Joins Faculty at Purdue University

Primary tabs

Mike Grant, a student of Prof. Robert Braun, graduated with his Ph.D. from the Daniel Guggenheim School of Aerospace Engineering in May 2012.  Under the supervision of Dr. Braun, Mike performed research in multiple areas of hypersonic flight including aerodynamics, atmospheric flight mechanics and guidance and control. While at Georgia Tech, Mike received three AIAA Atmospheric Flight Mechanics best paper awards and was named the 2009 Boeing Engineering Student of the Year. His dissertation titled "Rapid Simultaneous Hypersonic Aerodynamic and Trajectory Optimization" advanced the state of the art in hypersonic design by addressing fundamental limitations that exist in current hypersonic design techniques. In July, Mike will be joining the faculty in the School of Aeronautics and Astronautics at Purdue University as a tenure-track Assistant Professor. Mike earned a B.S. in Aeronautics and Astronautics from Purdue University in 2006 and a M.S. in Aerospace Engineering from Georgia Tech in 2008.
