2012 Student Honors and Awards

Congratulations to these AE students who received awards at the AE Sigma Gamma Tau Senior Banquet and the Georgia Tech Students Honors luncheon.  Jennifer Lynn Dowling  - AIAA Outstanding Service Award is awarded to a graduating senior who, in the opinion of the AIAA Student Chapter membership, has contributed the most to the programs and goals of the Chapter throughout his or her time at Georgia Tech. The award, funded in conjunction with the Leon A. Tolve, ME'38, Endowment in the Daniel Guggenheim School of Aerospace Engineering, the student's name will be permenately engraved in a plaque and displayed in the Guggenheim Aerospace Engineering building.  This year, Jennifer shares the award with Corianne Lamkin.  Jason David Frieman - Aerospace Engineering Outstanding Senior Scholar Award is presented to the graduating senior student(s) in The School of Aerospace Engineering having the highest cumulative grade point average, over 112 or more credit hours. The award is funded through an endowment established for the Daniel Guggenheim School of Aerospace Engineering by former School Chair Donnell W. Dutton, AE'40 and his wife, Ruth and includes the addition of that student’s name to the engraved plaque permanently displayed in the Guggenheim Aerospace Engineering building.    Joshua Goldstein - Centennial Outstanding Junior in Aerospace Engineering Award is presented to each of the junior students in Aerospace Engineering who have attained high academic achievement within the School of Aerospace Engineering.    Rachel Haga – Sigma Xi Undergraduate Best Thesis Award to recognize students for undergraduate research as evidenced by a thesis, written report or published paper.  Rachel’s award is for research during 2011.   Jan Filipe Kiviaho - Sigma Gamma Tau Sophomore Award presented by the Georgia Chapter of this national aerospace engineering honor society, is an annual award to the second semester aerospace engineering sophomore student having the best overall academic average with 48 or more credit hours. The award, funded through an endowment established for the Daniel Guggenheim School of Aerospace Engineering by former School Chair Donnell W. Dutton, AE'40 and his wife, Ruth, consists of a financial award and the addition of that student's name to the engraved plaque permanently displayed in the Guggenheim Aerospace Engineering building.   Corbin Michael Klett Leon A. Tolve, Outstanding Senior in Aerospace Engineering Award, funded by the Leon A. Tolve, ME ’38, Endowment in the Daniel Guggenheim School of Aerospace Engineering, is presented to the senior student in Aerospace Engineering who has attained high academic achievement within the School of Aerospace Engineering.    Corianne Olga Lamkin - AIAA Outstanding Service Award is awarded to a graduating senior who, in the opinion of the AIAA Student Chapter membership, has contributed the most to the programs and goals of the Chapter throughout his or her time at Georgia Tech. Tolve, ME'38, Endowment in the Daniel Guggenheim School of Aerospace Engineering, consists of a financial award and the addition of the student's name to the engraved plaque permanently displayed in the Guggenheim Aerospace Engineering building.   This year, Corianne shares the award with Jennifer Dowling.  Eric Thomas Zuniga - Harvey Hochman, AE'54, Scholarship Award – given by the family of Harvey Hochman, AE'54, a financial award is given honoring the memory of Harvey Hochman is given to an outstanding junior aerospace engineering student.
