Nature Conservancy Partners with CGIS and Georgia DNR

Primary tabs

The Nature Conservancy has partnered with Georgia Tech's Center for Geographic Information Systems (CGIS) and the Georgia Department of Natural Resources (DNR) to increase understanding of comprehensive ocean planning along the Georgia coast.
The Nature Conservancy's "long term goal for the Georgia Ocean Planning project is a movement from single sector decision-making to comprehensive ocean planning that considers maintenance and growth of ocean activities and uses while valuing natural resource conservation. Two core strategies in reaching this goal are 1) building support for ocean planning from authorities and coastal stakeholders and 2) developing the spatial data and tools that support this revised decision-making process."

The Nature Conservancy's work on human use mapping will be incorporated into the Georgia Coastal and Marine Planning (GCAMP) project and utilized to develop comprehensive planning strategies.
