4 National Finalists Emerge from Tech's Campus Moviefest

Primary tabs

Four teams took home top awards at Georgia Tech’s Campus MovieFest (CMF) finale this year and will have their films show at the competition’s Hollywood event in June.

This year’s winners of the Jury award, the CMF equivalent of Best Picture, were “Getting to Ten,” “Stigma,” “Dust,” and “Lil’ Bun.” The films will go up against others from around the world at the CMF Hollywood contest.

Numerous other films were nominated for the Golden Tripod award, which honors excellence in areas such as production design, best actress, best actor, and best director. These films will be entered into the CMF Hollywood contest for these respected categories.

Tech students have participated in the annual CMF competition, which began at Emory University in 2001, for the past 12 years. The festival is designed to encourage students to test their hand in amateur filmmaking and is the largest student film and music festival in the world.

CMF provides students with laptops, cameras, and training so they can create a movie within a week’s time frame. The movies are five minutes or less in length and are judged by each participating school’s CMF organizers. Selected winners may also go on to be shown at the Cannes Film Festival.
