Bio

Vir Nanda is a successful serial entrepreneur. He co-founded Intercept Systems Inc. in 1986. Intercept Systems provided software, ATM and Core Processing services to the Community Banks. At InterCept Group he was a Senior/Executive Vice President responsible for all of its Technology development. He was one of the founders responsible for taking InterCept Group public in June, 1998. Intercept was bought by Financial Information Services, a division of Fidelity National Financial, in 2004.

In the year 2004 Mr. Nanda founded SureServ, LLC; a company with business focuses in the areas of Business Processing Outsourcing, and Software Development. He served as its Chairman and CEO. SureServ was closed in the year 2009. He is currently retired.

Mr. Nanda has made investments in a number of technology as well as non-technology companies such as Moneta, an Atlanta-based online payments company, Virima, a company that improves IT performance, governance and business value management, Unicore-Health, a company that provides integrated healthcare services for corporations, government organizations, hospitals, and healthcare practitioners, Embassy National Bank, Hometown Community Bank and many others. He is currently Chairman of the Hometown Community Bancshares, Inc, holding company of the Hometown Community bank in Braselton, Georgia.

Over the last forty years, he has been very involved in the community services. He has co-founded, served as President, Chairman, and a member of the Board of a number of civic, cultural and professional organizations. He believes in giving back to community and has supported a number of Causes.

• He co-founded Atlanta Chapter of Nargis Dutt Memorial Foundation in 1991, Atlanta Games Legacy Organization (AGLO) in 1997, Atlanta Chapter of The Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE) in 1998, the Atlanta Chapter of India Vision Foundation (IVF) in 1998, Georgia Indo-American Chamber of Commerce (GIACC) in 2000, Asian American Heritage Foundation in 2001, and the Greater Atlanta Punjabi Society in 2007.

• He was President and Chairman of Nargis Dutt Memorial Foundation 1991-1994, President of the Atlanta Chapter of TiE in the year 2005. He was a founding Chairman of GIACC, past President and a Board Member of the Asian Pacific American Council of Georgia (APAC) 1992-1993, past President and Chairman of the Asian American Heritage Foundation, past President and Chairman of the India American Cultural Association (IACA), past regional Vice-President of National Federation of Indian Associations (NFIA) (1993-1994), past Board member of Emory Board of Visitors (2005-2007), and past Board Member of TechBridge (2007-2010), a technology company for non-profit organizations.
• He recently rotated off the Board of the High Museum of Art, one of the top ten Art Museums in USA. He is currently on the Board of  Center for Puppetry Arts, and the Asian American Heritage Foundation. He is also on the Board of Governors of Sanatan Mandir, and on the Advisory Board of Who’s Who in Asian American Communities  Alliance Foundation.
• He has received several awards from IACA, APAC, TiE, GIACC, Cultures across Borders, and Indian Professionals Network for his achievements and outstanding service to the community. He was honored by Who’s Who in Asian American Communities in the year 2006 by Sachi Koto Communications. He has also received several awards from NRI institutions in India including Pride of India Gold Award, Pravasi Excellence award, and Bhartiya Gaurav award. During the 10th anniversary gala of TiE on September 13, 2008, he was given a life time Community Service award by his peers at TiE.
• Mr. Nanda graduated from Volunteer Initiative Program (VIP) of United way in 199. He is a graduate of the prestigious Leadership Atlanta class of 2003.
• He is a recent graduate of the very first Citizens Police Academy of Fulton County, Georgia, and is an honorary Deputy.
• During the Olympic Games held in Atlanta in 1996, the Atlanta Committee for the Olympic Games (ACOG) selected Mr. Nanda to be their "Envoy" for the delegation from the National Olympic Committee of India. He went through a two year training and was responsible for supporting the Olympic team from India during their participation in Olympics, and before the Olympics.

• During his term, the Governor of Georgia, Honorable Roy Barnes, appointed Mr. Nanda to be a member of the very first Georgia Commission on Asian American Affairs. During his tenure, Honorable Roy Barnes supported the formation of Asian American Heritage Foundation, of which Vir was a co-founder.

Mr. Nanda has a Master of Science degree in Physics from Delhi University, and a Master of Science degree in Computer Science from Georgia Institute of Technology. He has been married to Lucy for thirty-nine years, and they have two children, daughter Aarti, and son Sameer, and four grand children.
