The European Parliament is holding its hearing on the Commissioner-designate for Trade Cecilia Malmstrom. As Trade Commissioner, Ms. Malmstrom would be responsible for the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership negotiations with the United States, among other things. Ms. Malmstrom is currently the Commissioner for Home Affairs. Previously she was Swedish Minister for European Affairs (2006-2010) and a member of the European Parliament (1999-2006).

At 8:15 AM, Dr. Vicki Birchfield will present on the European Parliament and Commission, after which the first hour of the hearing will be live streamed at 8:30. Dr. Alasdair Young will conclude the Hearing at 9:30 with a commentary and conduct a question and answer session.
