New Product Innovation: The development process
Abstract:
Why do successful companies like 3M, Corning Glass, Exxon Chemical, and Coca-Cola continue to churn out successful, innovative products? This talk will compare these successful companies with the average company, and highlight one cornerstone of their success -- the development process. A model development process that the best companies are using in order to have quicker, more successful new product launches will be discussed.
Speaker Bio:
David Newman is an engineering consultant at The Coca-Cola Company working in Global Innovation. He has had a 25+ year career in the arena of new product development. With a background in digital/analog and embedded design, David has worked at four different companies in various capacities over his career. Starting out, David worked as a designer/programmer on marine navigational equipment. He was also involved with new product development for the military. He has been at The Coca-Cola Company for over 19 years. He has worked as a project manager/technical lead on several new products in the areas of vending and fountain dispensing equipment, and is currently actively involved with Project Freestyle.
David obtained a B.S.E.E. from the University of Rhode Island and an M.S.E.E. from Georgia Tech. David holds 13 patents in the area of fountain dispensing equipment. He lives in Sandy Springs, Georgia.
