Title: eBay Recommender Systems

Abstract: Algorithmic personalization powers your favorite web experiences today from movie recommendations to tailored job suggestions. After eBay’s acquisition of Hunch in 2011, a commerce ‘taste-graph’ was constructed to represent each buyers affinity to any of the 500 million listings for sale on eBay.  Learn about how eBay uses the ‘taste-graph’ in concert with machine learning, information retrieval and data science to deliver a world class commerce experience.

Bio: Beck Kloss leads the algorithmic recommendations team for eBay’s Buyer Experience group in NYC.  He's worked in e-commerce, web search, and analytics roles after graduating with a MSc in Applied Statistics from NC State.
